Location: It is located in Karbi-Anglong District, about 20 kms from
the. Golaghat town and 325 kms from Guwahati
Description:

The
natural calmness and the surrounding scenic beauty of it attract the visitors.
This sanctuary is famous for the wild elephants, various species of monkeys
and rare types of orchids.
Nambor is also famous for the most important Hot Spring Lake, which is locally
known as Goram Pani.
The medicinal properties of water of Hot Spring Lake are well known. It is only
65 kms from Kaziranga National Park. Animals commonly found here are Elephants,
the odd leopard, a good no of lesser cats and some ungulates.
Access:
By Air: Guwahati and Jorhat are the two airports from where one approaches this
area.
By Rail: Jorhat is 60 kms from Nambor and is very well connected to the Northeatern
states of India.
Temperature:
This area is in the tropical basin of India and as a result of that the temperatures
are never too high or low; with a very heavy monsoon. The max/min temperature
is 8 to 30oC. Annual rainfall is 2500 mm.
Safari Timings:

The
best time to enjoy sanctuary is 0600 to 0900 hrs and 1500 to 1700 hrs.
Accomodation:
The sanctuary has no accommodation but there are places to stay in Golaghat.
Also one can come for a day visit from Jorhat and stay overnight at Jorhat.
Wildlife:
The sanctuary is home to a variety of flora and fauna. The sacred groves home
to species like Alstonia scholaris is a place worth visiting. The faunal population
includes the elephant and lesser cats and very good birdlife.
