Area: 70.13 sq. kms/7013 ha
Location: It is located in the Nagaon Dist. and is only 25 kms from Nagaon town.
Description:
It
is situated in the Nagaon Dist. This park has a small area of 60 sq. kms. Laokhowa
wildlife Sanctuary is just 15 kms from Nagoan town so the park can be visited
while staying at Nagaon. This park is famous for one horned Rhinos, wild buffalo,
Swamp deer, cormorant, and many varieties of birds.
Visiting Season:
November to April.
Access:
By Air: The nearest airport to the sanctuary is Guwahati at 140 kms.
By Rail: Naogaon is connected to Guwahati and most of the other important cities of Northeast and India rail.
By Road: Guwahati is 140 kms from Lawkhowa and is well connected by a good network of roads.
Accomodation:
Accomodation can be arranged in the forest rest house in Laokhowa through arrangement with the forest authorities.
Wildlife:
Its main attraction in the great Indian one horned rhinoceros. Other animals are, asiantic water buffalo, wild boar, civet cat, leopard cat, hog deer etc. Various species of birds and reptiles are also found in Laokhowa.
